Mailbox Key

Date: July 28, 2021

I am standing in front of the neighboring building to our old music school. It is the first time all of the tenants have returned to their studio in months due to COVID. I am looking through the open front door and I see furniture stacked from floor to ceiling. The halls are so full that the tenants in the building are almost trapped, they can barely get out and are frustrated. Finally, they find a way to leave the building through a side door. I ask them if they are getting a new greenroom with more space. One of the tenants says "yes" and I respond "that's great" but she clearly isn't impressed at the moment.

Then my wife and another gal come out of the building and they are talking about the new furniture for one of our studios. They say their goodbyes and my wife walks to me clearly irritated and says "I can't believe you gave her my email address, now I have to meet with her again. And now she is going to be all up in my business about how great their furniture is and helping the Vets..." I gather from her outburst that the gal she was speaking with works for the American Veterans thrift shop. I respond that I don't remember giving out her email to them, but am very sorry if I did. Then the gal (with short blonde hair) pokes her head in between us to look at my wife and says "if you don't want to meet just say so" and my wife replies "no, we set a meeting and I will keep it, I just don't like having my contact info given out is all"

I then turn to our mailbox that we have walked up to and put the key in, but it is very hard to open. In fact, I realize that the door of the metal mailbox is completely warped. I have no idea how that could have happened. I continue to struggle with the key and the key starts twisting in the lock but the lock isn't budging. The key now is so bent it looks like it was made of rubber. Worried the key will break I turn it in the other direction to straighten it out. I try again and this time am able to open the door. I open up the mailbox but instead of a lot of mail there are random items (I can't remember now what they were) but no mail. Then another tenant comes and opens her mailbox next to me and starts getting upset and says "can you believe this note the post office left, did you get one too? It says 'they are short on staff and you need to take this seriously. Then they have the nerve to say do not send a woman over to our office it needs to be handled by a man' ". As she is reading this she storms off mumbling "I am taking this very seriously". I then look inside and see the same note as the one she just read to me is also inside my mailbox. It is hand writte on what looks like a ripped piece of cardboard. I think how strange that it isn't even a typed letter or notice and it is in all the mailboxes.

The End!
